Hey what’s up, pup, pup, pup?

posted in Career Advice |

This is the voice message I received when calling the phone number a potential client had on their resume. The message continued to say she would return the call “if the caller were worthy”. She is applying for a Financial Analyst position that requires interfacing with senior executives. Just imagine how an employer would react to this.

This is an extreme example but others abound. People have their children answer the phone with cute messages. Or their teenagers answer and could use a lesson in telephone manners. Remember, first impressions are important. So make sure your message is professional and your family is trained on how to greet potential employers when they call.
